Strengths
useful for preprocedural assessment of fibroids. Also can characterize adnexal masses or uterine anomalies. Utility for cyberknife therapy planning for prostate CA.
Limitations
Most other indications (such as screening for malignancy, focal symptoms, adnexal pathology, etc) consider ultrasound in woman/CT in man as first line.
Contraindications
IV contrast will not be given in renal insufficiency (Creatinine clearance <30) due to risk of NSF; CrCl between 30 and 60 on case by case basis. Requires discussion with radiologist.
