MRI neck - neoplasm

Strengths

MRI >> CT for head and neck CA imaging. If for neoplasm, will probably need gadolinium. Specify orbit, nasopharynx, sinuses, skull base or larynx (may alter MR protocol).

Limitations

If for suspected disc or cord abnormality, order MR C spine.

Contraindications

1) Standard MR questionaire as to contraindicated implanted devices, surgery, etc.; 2) Gadolinium will be dose-adjusted dependent upon creatinine clearance. It will not be given with CrCl <30 due to risk of NSF.
